Our Staycation Bucket List

Warm, sunny summer days are calling, and there's never been a better time to plan the Maine staycation you've been dreaming of. We've put together a few Maine bucket list activities to entertain the whole family this summer.

  • Camping - The ultimate social distancing activity. Maine is home to 48 state parks and many privately owned campgrounds. The Bureau of Parks and Land website has all of the information you need to find the perfect campsite.

  • Pick Your Own Blueberries - The only thing more Maine than lobster is blueberries. Peak blueberry season is coming up in July - learn where you can pick your own.

  • Hit the Trails - The headwaters of the Penobscot River run by the base of Maine's tallest mountain. Whether you're hiking in Baxter State Park or the trails of Bangor City Forest, hiking is the perfect way to get outside and explore. Don't forget to pack water, some snacks, and your camera!

  • Paddle the Penobscot - The Penobscot River is Maine's longest river - second longest in New England - so there's lots of room to get out for a paddle.

  • Visit Your Local Farmer's Market - Grab some local meat and produce and plan a backyard bbq for your family. The Maine Federation of Farmer's Markets website can help you find a market near you.

We'd love to hear about your summer staycation plans - let us know what you plan to cross off the Maine bucket list this year.
