The snow's melted, temperatures are rising, and we're thinking ahead to our summer vacation plans!
Last year, like many people, we stuck close to home for the summer, but there's no place better to do that than the beautiful state of Maine.
So, what's on our bucket lists for this summer?
Camping - Did you know Maine is home to 48 state parks? The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands website can help you pick the perfect site for you and your family.
Paddling - Last summer, one of our volunteers spent five days paddling the West Branch of the Penobscot. Looking for something a little closer to home? Check out the Penobscot River Paddling Trail website to find the right reach for your schedule and experience level.
Hiking - Did you know that Baxter State Park covers 235,000 acres and is home to over 220 miles of trails? Summiting Maine's tallest mountain takes anywhere between 8 and 12 hours, but there are plenty of shorter hikes. Visit the Baxter State Park website for more information on these off the beaten path hikes.
PYO Blueberries - Maine produces nearly 15% of the world's blueberry crop! Usually ready for picking between late July and September, we've already blocked off time in our August calendars for a trip to our favorite blueberry barren. Maine U-Pick Farms is a great resource for finding a farm near you!
What are your summer plans? Did we miss something? Let us know!
